In the first quarter of 2021, São Paulo's agribusiness exports increased by 7.5%, reaching US $ 3.87 billion, while imports decreased by 7%, resulting in a surplus of US $ 2.67 billion, a 15.6% increase from the same period in 2020. The main export groups were the Sugar and Alcohol Complex, meat, soy complex, juices, and forest products. China, the European Union, and the United States were the main destination countries. However, the Covid-19 pandemic has led to a trade deficit due to increased imports of technological goods, medicines, and diesel engine automobiles. Meanwhile, Brazil's trade balance showed a positive balance of US $ 7.91 billion, with agribusiness exports increasing by 11.9%, contributing to a surplus of US $ 19.67 billion.
