Commercial farming of Thai guava is on the rise in the region, including the Barind tract and char areas of the Padma river, due to higher yield and fair market price. The fruit brings financial solvency to farmers and improves the local economy. Over 105 hectares of land in Char Mazar Diar village is dedicated to guava farming, and the fruit is expected to become the main cash crop in the future. Thai Guava is more nutritious and larger in size than other varieties, making it more valuable in the market.
