REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — DPR Commission IV member Endang Setyawati Thohari emphasized the important role of nutritionists in the Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) or kitchens for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program. Endang stated that the readiness of the SPPG is the main key to the success of President Prabowo Subianto's program.
"We advise the government to look again at the readiness of the SPPG and it is very much related to the experts who handle it. So, we suggest that there should be a nutritionist in every SPPG," said Endang during a public discussion titled “Outlook of the Agricultural Sector 2026: Strategies for Achieving National Food Self-Sufficiency” at Tjikinii Lima Restaurant, Jakarta, on Thursday (4/12/2025).
Endang stressed the need for nutritionists in every SPPG so that policies run according to targets. She assessed that the controversy over the presence of nutritionists in the SPPG is not unrelated to the incomplete harmonization of regulations.
"So, indeed, it was a bit rushed yesterday when I looked at it because the regulations for harmonization were not yet..."
