(Pohang=Yonhap News) Reporter Lee Seung-hyung = The 'Gyeongsang Regional Fisheries Logistics Terminal' was completed on the 10th in Daeyeon-ri, Heunghae-eup, Pohang City, Gyeongbuk.
The Fisheries Logistics Terminal is the second to be built nationwide after Muju, and it is a facility that has introduced a robot-based artificial intelligence (AI) automation system to automate the entire process of sorting, sterilizing, and packaging of fisheries products.
Equipped with a transshipment center, low-temperature/refrigerated storage, and an automatic sorting system, it is expected to significantly improve the freshness and distribution efficiency of clean fisheries products.
Pohang City plans to start construction of a fisheries product processing center next year to compensate for the short distribution period of fisheries products and to develop processed products to increase added value.
Mayor Lee Kang-deok of Pohang City said, "With the completion of the logistics terminal, the competitiveness of regional fisheries products has been enhanced, and a distribution foundation has been established to ensure a smooth flow from production to consumption," and added, "In the future, we will work hard to expand the domestic distribution network and strengthen the export base by linking with the processing center."
