Brazil: Concentrated in the Curitiba region, blackberry production doubled in ten years in Paraná

Blackberry production has doubled in the last ten years in Paraná, going from 347 tons in 2013 to 694 tons in 2022. The planted area has also grown and occupied, in the last survey carried out last year, 96 hectares, 28% higher than the 75 hectares of a decade ago. In Gross Production Value (VBP), the fruit contributed R$6.8 million in 2022. The analysis of this crop is presented in the Agricultural Situation Bulletin for the week of December 8th to 14th. The document, prepared by the Department of Rural Economy (Deral), of the State Secretariat for Agriculture and Supply, also provides information on other agricultural and livestock activities. The data shows that state production of blackberries is concentrated in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba, responsible for 38.9% of the 694 tons.
