The President of the Southeast Anatolian Cereals, Pulses and Oilseeds Exporters' Association, Mahsum Altunkaya, expressed concerns over the potential impact of the Russia-Ukraine tension on the grains and pulses industry, given the dependence on these countries for raw materials like wheat flour and sunflower oil. He urged for an end to the war and highlighted the negative effects on trade relations and the industry. Despite these concerns, Altunkaya celebrated the association's achievements, with a 25.6% increase in exports in 2021, reaching a total of 9 billion 156 million dollars. They have set out to create a sustainable action plan and continue their efforts to boost exports.
