The Japanese government is conducting a crackdown on the country of origin labeling of imported aquatic products due to growing concerns about the safety of aquatic products following Japan's plans to discharge contaminated water from nuclear power plants. A special inspection will be conducted for two months from May 1 to June 30, involving the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, the Korea Coast Guard, and other organizations. The inspection will focus on key items such as scallops, red sea bream, and sea squirts, and will target importers, distributors, and retailers. The government also plans to promote the fulfillment of country of origin labeling obligations for certain items in restaurants from July 1.
