Two groups of workers from the Ledesma company were on the verge of a physical confrontation on Tuesday when a dissenting sector of the union found out that the official party was holding a secret assembly with the intention of expelling the most combative delegates. The situation was prevented by the police, who held back the large group that wanted to be included in the meeting. The conflict shows the tense situation in the Jujuy area where the country's largest sugar mill is located, which has laid off about 300 people so far this year.
