In Germany, there has been a shift in consumption patterns with a decrease in the consumption of table potatoes and a growing consumption of potato products like french fries and chips. Preliminary data for the financial year 2022/23 shows that each German citizen consumed 16.2 kg of table potatoes and 37.9 kg of potato products. However, despite this shift, the overall per capita consumption of potatoes has declined to about 54.1 kg, possibly due to increased consumption outside the home and poor harvesting conditions.
