Record low pork prices in Vietnam for the past three years, ranging from 36-40 thousand VND/kg, are due to the Covid-19 epidemic, consumer fear of African swine fever, and high animal feed costs. The province's total pig herd has increased by about 40,000 heads over the same period in 2020, but the market for pigs going to provinces and cities has decreased. To stabilize pork prices, localities need to control and extinguish African swine fever, and farms need to apply biosecurity and veterinary hygiene measures to prevent diseases.
