São Paulo, 11/11/2025 - One of the leading names in agribusiness credit, Rabobank wants to continue its expansion across Brazil without abandoning the sustainability commitments made globally. The effort is hindered by the country's complex regulatory structure, which combats illegal degradation but still allows for a portion of legal deforestation.
In a brief stop in São Paulo before boarding for the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30) in Belém, the global CEO of the Dutch bank, Stefaan Decraene, explained that the financial institution maintains zero tolerance for illegal deforestation. For clients who exploit licenses permitted to destroy forests, the strategy is a combination of dialogue and financial incentives to convince them to preserve ecosystems.
