Corn harvest 25/26 will have lower yield in Mato Grosso

According to the weekly analysis released by the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea) on Monday (15), the area allocated for corn cultivation in Mato Grosso for the 2025/26 season is projected at 7.39 million hectares, which represents an increase of 1.83% compared to the 2024/25 season. The expansion of the area is attributed to the higher domestic demand for the cereal, a factor that supports the appreciation of prices and encourages producers to expand planting. However, according to data from the CPA-MT project, the advance is moderated by the scenario of higher production costs, especially for inputs, which requires greater caution in decision-making and limits more significant expansion. Regarding productivity, Imea adopts as its methodology the use of historical averages.
