Corn seed is cheaper in Ukraine, Polish farmers outraged by price differences

Same variety, different price Polish farmers are raising alarms on their social media about large price differences in seed material of corn varieties between distributors in Poland and Ukraine. On Ukrainian websites, the cost of purchasing a seed unit of the same variety is, according to producers' calculations, much lower than in our country. In Ukrainian offers, most offers for seed material cost 2000-3000 hryvnia/unit. depending on the variety, breeding and number of seeds. Converted, this currently gives approximately PLN 250-350/unit. Some farmers are outraged by the fact that in Poland they have to pay, in some cases, up to three times more for a unit of the same seeds than our eastern neighbors. They emphasize that compared to the prices obtained for selling wet corn grain this year, the costs of purchasing corn seed material for the 2024 season are disproportionately high.
