Ukraine is set to have its first cotton harvest in October with an expected yield of 2-3 tons per hectare. The country is reviving cotton production after a 30-year hiatus to meet the military industry's requirement of 10,000 tons of raw cotton. The Ministry of Agriculture and the Ukrainian Institute of Plant Varieties are conducting trials to evaluate the crop's suitability under various conditions. Farmers will be subsidized UAH 10,000 per hectare to facilitate the crop's cultivation, providing financial support and aiding in modernizing their farms. The initial trials show promising results, indicating favorable climatic conditions for cotton growth in the Odesa region.
