Brazilian cotton sales saw average volume with rising prices this week, despite international benchmarks. Transactions for delivery in 2025 were made, along with short-term acquisitions by the local industry. The price of feather cotton increased by 0.90% to R$3.71 per pound in Rondonópolis, Mato Grosso, and by 0.73% to R$3.72 per pound in Primavera do Leste. However, the price for FOB exports at the port of Santos fell to 69.49 cents per pound, a decrease from 70.01 cents the previous week. From August 2023 to May 2024, Brazil exported 2.353 million tons of cotton, earning US$4.52 billion, marking a 79% increase from the previous cycle. China continues to be the primary importer of Brazilian cotton, with a 53% share, while Egypt has become the ninth main export destination.
