Shinan-gun, the largest producer of farmed shrimp in South Korea, has produced 4,200 tons of shrimp, worth 60 billion won, for the first time in its history. Despite concerns about farming conditions and sporadic deaths, most farms saw more than average crops. The high demand for Shinan-cultured shrimp in the domestic market, due to a decrease in imports, has resulted in higher prices and production output than the previous year. Shinan-gun plans to promote policies to foster the shrimp farming industry, such as fostering experts and joint purchasing of feed and equipment.
