The agricultural organization Asaja Córdoba in Andalusia, Spain, has launched a new market table for almond contracting, the first of its kind in the region, in an effort to establish clear average prices for almonds. The table includes participation from various industrial sectors, merchants, mediators, and farmers, and will cover the Belona, Soleta, Late Bloom Monovarietal, Traditional, and Ecological Commune varieties. The almonds are primarily exported to Italy, Germany, France, and the United States, but the market this year is affected by a significant increase in production from California. The province of Córdoba has seen a rise in almond cultivation, with the total hectare count now at 9,592, up from 5,096 in 2018, despite a slight decrease in the percentage of hectares in production this year.
