In the first quarter of 2021, Spanish cured ham and shoulders exports saw a slight decrease of 2.08% to 9,994.99 tons, totaling a value of 98,473,806.67 euros, a 1.93% decrease from the previous year. Despite this, the average price per kilo of ham increased slightly to 9.85 euros. The European Union accounted for 77.4% of these exports, with Germany and France as the main markets, despite a decrease in value. There was growth in exports to Austria, Belgium, and Denmark, as well as to Chile and China, which more than offset the decline in Mexico and the US. Bone-in ham formats saw a slight decrease in value but an increase in volume, while boneless ham decreased in both volume and value, with Switzerland and Chile experiencing the most growth in boneless ham exports.
