A target has been fixed to cultivate boro rice on 50,297 hectares of land across three upazilas of Narail during the current season, officials of the Department of Agricultural Extension said on Saturday.

Boro rice transplantation is going on in full swing in the fields of various villages under Narail Sadar, Lohagara and Kalia upazilas of the district. Farmers are passing a very busy time. From morning till evening, they are busy uprooting seedlings from seedbeds and transplanting them in the fields. There is no shortage of fertiliser or irrigation, the DAE officials said, adding that Boro rice was being cultivated on more land this year, breaking the record of last three years. According to the sources at the DAE, a target has been fixed to cultivate boro rice on 50,297 hectares of land in the district during the 2025–26 season. In the 2024–25 season, boro rice was cultivated on 50,280 hectares while in the 2023–24 season it was 50,230 hectares. Compared to the past year, the target has increased by 17 hectares this year.
