(Daejeon=Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Jun-beom = The Daejeon Institute of Health and Environment announced on the 6th that it has detected 12 cases of non-compliance in a pesticide residue test conducted on agricultural products circulating in the market.
This inspection was conducted over a three-month period from June on 904 agricultural products, including lettuce, eggplant, pepper, and chicory, which are consumed in large quantities during the summer.
Out of the 416 inspections conducted before the wholesale market auction, three cases were deemed non-compliant, and nine cases were found to be non-compliant in the 377 inspections conducted after the auction.
The institute confiscated and disposed of the non-compliant agricultural products.
Director Jung Tae-young of the Daejeon Institute of Health and Environment said, "We will strengthen the pesticide residue inspection to create a safe food environment."
