In the Lviv region of Ukraine, a notable increase in the number of family dairy farms has been observed, with a total of 48 registered between 2020 and 2022. These farms, often owned by individuals with small to medium-sized herds (ranging from 1 to 50 cows), have shown significant growth, with a 33% increase in cow numbers from the previous year, contrasting with a decrease in larger farms. The region's Department of Agro-Industrial Development has supported these farms through unique subsidy programs, providing a total of over UAH 31 million to encourage small and medium-sized livestock enterprises. This initiative has been pivotal in bolstering the dairy sector in the Lviv region.
