Da Lat persimmons are experiencing a surge in popularity in Vietnam during their harvest season, from late August to early December, as seen in Ho Chi Minh City's traditional markets and stores. Despite the influx of Chinese persimmons, Vietnamese persimmons, including the new Japanese Fuji variety, are preferred by consumers due to their fresher taste, better appearance, and clearer origin labeling. The price of Vietnamese persimmons has also increased by 3-5% compared to last year, ranging from 40,000 VND to 120,000 VND per kilogram. Lam Dong, the province responsible for persimmon cultivation, has seen a 44% increase in persimmon arrivals and a decrease in Chinese goods by nearly 60%. The province is also encouraging diversification in persimmon varieties and promoting deep processing to increase product value and consumer trust.
