A warm February in the Center and Volga region of Russia has complicated the wintering of winter crops, leading to dampening and unsatisfactory plant conditions, with 7% of winter rye and 13% of winter wheat showing sparseness. However, the snowfall in early March is expected to have a positive impact on the state of the crops. The condition of the crops will be assessed in mid-March, using plant samples taken from the fields. Meanwhile, the Southern and North Caucasian federal districts experienced low temperatures in February. Over 93% of the winter crops in Russia were in good or satisfactory condition as of March 3, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.
