DATAGRO Grains points out 2022/23 soybean crop in South America at 190.46 million tons

DATAGRO Grains' fourth survey for the 2022/23 soybean crop in South America confirms the increase in production on the continent compared to the previous season: 190.46 million tons, below the March projection, which indicated 193.52 million t, but 3% above the 185.60m t harvested in 2021/22. The area sown with oilseeds stood at 66.54 million hectares, 3.2% higher than the previous crop, which corroborates the consultancy's planting intention report and marks a new historical record. However, the severe losses due to the scarcity of rains caused the effectively harvested area to be reduced to 63.69 mi ha, slightly below the 64.50 mi ha of the 2021/22 season – losses of 2.50 mi ha Argentina, 300 thousand ha in Uruguay and 50 thousand ha in Bolivia.
