In the last year, Iran has emerged as the world's leading exporter of dates, shipping out 388,405 tons to 85 countries at a value of $296 million, with India, Malaysia, and Russia being the primary markets. This represents a significant increase from the previous year's exports of 38,152 tons valued at $211.64 million. Iran's production, the second largest globally after Egypt and ahead of Saudi Arabia, is primarily concentrated in southern provinces. The date market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 4.6% from 2021 to 2026, driven by increased global consumption and the health benefits of dates. However, the market growth may face challenges due to factors such as regulatory requirements, pest risks, and political instability in the Middle East. The UAE, India, and Indonesia lead in dates imports, with demand also rising in European markets. Dates are particularly significant in Muslim cultures, especially during Ramadan.
