The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Indonesia has reported a significant increase in the import of dates in the country, particularly ahead of Eid. The imports hit US $ 17.1 million in March, up from US $ 14.9 million in February and US $ 10.3 million in January. Egypt, Tunisia, and Saudi Arabia are the primary countries exporting dates to Indonesia. However, compared to the previous year, the March imports saw a sharp decrease of 33.9%. On the other hand, imports of consumer goods in March rose by 15.51% compared to the previous month and by 13.4% year-on-year.
