Peruvian artichoke exports decline in 2023

Between January and November 2023, Peru exported 41,827 tons of artichokes worth $121 million, registering a decrease of 18% in volume and 15% in value compared to 2022. However, the average price saw a slight increase of 4%, partially offsetting the drop in volume. The average price was set at $2.89 per kilogram, according to FreshFruit. Regarding the destinations of the vegetable, in these eleven months they stopped shipping to some countries such as Italy, Venezuela, Colombia; and in turn, new ones such as India and New Zealand joined. However, between comings and goings with these markets, the number of places to which exports were made during this period remained the same, with the three most relevant being the United States, with 60% participation; followed by Spain, with 29%; and France, with 4%.
