In 2024, Russia experienced a 2-2.5% increase in meat product consumption, with the total consumption per person reaching 83 kg per year. Despite a slight decrease in retail sales of raw meat by 1.3% over the first eleven months, there was a notable shift in consumer preferences. Both beef and turkey saw a significant increase in demand, with sales growing by 7% and 2% respectively. In contrast, chicken and pork sales declined by 1.9% and 2.7% due to consumers opting for semi-finished or finished products. The growth in beef and turkey sales was attributed to their perception as healthier options, higher wages, and a trend towards diversifying food choices. Meanwhile, pork consumption, although slightly down in the raw meat category, is on the rise when considering processed pork products.
