A Spanish agricultural company based in Safor has started selling sugar cane as part of its product range, following demand from a local grower. The company, which specializes in citrus, vegetables, pomegranates, and summer fruit, currently supplies sugar cane to supermarkets in France, Italy, and some Spanish wholesale markets from October to April. The product is manually peeled, washed, cut, and packaged, and is sold at around €2 per kilo. It is consumed either unpeeled, as a sweetener in cocktails, or used to make homemade sugar.
