Georgia has seen a significant increase in strawberry imports in the first two months of 2023, importing 420 tonnes, which is three times more than the same period last year. The total import volume from August 2022 to February 2023 was 750 tonnes, a 44% increase from the previous year. This surge is due to growing local demand fueled by the influx of Russian citizens and the economic recovery from the pandemic. The HoReCa sector and supermarket chains have also contributed to the rise in imports. Most of the imports (82%) were fresh strawberries, while the rest were frozen.
