Egypt: Desert Research reviews its activities during October

The Desert Research Center, in cooperation with the Egyptian Camel Science Society, organized a celebration on the occasion of the International Year of Camels in Matrouh to promote heritage and productivity in the livestock sector. In this context, Dr. Hossam Shawky, Head of the Desert Research Center, stressed the importance of benefiting from livestock as an economic heritage, and pointed out the efforts of the Desert Research Center in facing the challenges facing this sector, which contributes to improving productivity. It was noted that the Center’s Sustainable Development Center in Matrouh is working hard to provide support to breeders in the livestock sector, especially camels, as Matrouh Governorate contributes about a third of the camels in Egypt, and that the center aims to enhance this vital sector through a set of initiatives.
