China's sugar production for the 2020/2021 season is projected to reach 10.5 million tons, with cane sugar making up 8.99 million tons and beet sugar at 1.51 million tons. The main production areas are in Guangxi and Yunnan, with a slight increase in Yunnan and similar production levels to last year. Inner Mongolia has seen the most significant increase in sugar production from sugar beets. Globally, the United States Department of Agriculture predicts a rise in sugar production to 182 million tons for the 2020/2021 season, with consumption also expected to increase slightly.
