Disaster Preparedness Drill for Jellyfish in Deukryang Bay, Goheung

Jeollanam-do Province recently conducted a joint public-private disaster preparedness training for jellyfish mass occurrence in the Deukryang Bay area, involving the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Jeollanam-do Province, National Fisheries Research and Development Institute, Goheung County, and fishermen. This training is the first since jellyfish occurrence was newly designated as a natural disaster. It was carried out to strengthen joint public-private response capabilities for jellyfish occurrence monitoring and removal, and to minimize fishing damage. A total of 10 vessels, including surveillance ships, fishing ground cleanup vessels, and fishing boats, participated, and removal training was conducted using jellyfish crushers and cutting nets as if in an actual situation.
