Vietnam's bamboo leaf exports, primarily Bat Do bamboo leaves, saw a turnover of 1.31 million USD in the first 10 months of 2023, marking a 22.1% decrease from the same period in 2022. Despite the decrease, bamboo leaves still constitute 22.9% of exported leaves, with Japan and Korea being the main markets. These leaves are used for food packaging and decoration. Additionally, bamboo leaves, rich in chlorophyll and choline, have been used in Oriental medicine for over 1500 years to treat various ailments including colds, fevers, flu, convulsions in children, measles, chickenpox, cough, asthma, stroke, and hiccups.
