Ukraine: Diseases and pests attack the harvest of vegetables and melons

High temperatures and lack of precipitation negatively affect the formation of the harvest of melons and vegetables, in particular, the loss of turgor continues, EastFruit reports. In particular, in potato and tomato plantings, leaves are damaged by late blight and alternaria (3-24% of plants). Alternaria blight and blossom end rot affect up to 12% of tomato fruits. The feeding of larvae of cabbage, carrot and onion flies continues, says the report of the State Food and Consumer Service of Ukraine on the phytosanitary state of agricultural plants. In the northwestern regions, cabbage crops continue to be damaged by whiteflies, cruciferous flea beetles, and cabbage aphids, which infested and damaged 5-27% of plants to a weak and in some places to a moderate degree, AgroPortal clarifies.
