As concerns grow that agriculture might once again become a sacrificial lamb in trade negotiations with the United States, agricultural and livestock farmer organizations gathered to condemn the government. On the 18th, the Korea Agricultural and Livestock Association, Korea Comprehensive Agricultural Organization Council, Livestock-Related Organization Council, and Farmers' Path held a press conference in front of the Presidential Office in Yongsan, Seoul, opposing the opening of agricultural and livestock markets in the Korea-U.S. mutual tariff negotiations. Representatives of agricultural and livestock farmers from across the country stated that despite claims of increasing trade surplus with the U.S., the trade balance in the agricultural and food sector is deteriorating, and they are concerned about using agricultural and livestock markets as a negotiation card.
