Preliminary data for 2023 indicates a 12% rise in fish product exports, totaling 2.2 million tons. The majority of these exports were frozen fish (76%), with fish fillets and other fish meat (9%), non-food aquatic biological resources (6%), and crustaceans, mollusks, and aquatic invertebrates (5%) also contributing. Pollock was the primary exported fish species, while other exports included herring, sardines, and crabs. The main importers were China, the Republic of Korea, the Netherlands, Belarus, Japan, Kazakhstan, and Nigeria, with China significantly increasing its purchases from the previous year.
