The Dominican mango industry is projected to grow significantly in 2024, with an expected 25-30% increase in exports compared to 2023, reaching 2.8 to 3 million boxes. Despite challenges such as oversupply in international markets and the effects of climate change on flowering, the industry has seen substantial growth in the past two decades. With a focus on new market niches, innovation, technology transfer, and continuous training for new producers, the industry is working to improve export quality and certification in good agricultural practices. The main production areas are in San Cristóbal, Peravia, Azua, San Juan de la Maguana, Neyba, and Barahona, and the industry relies on 1,900 producers and 22 packers for export, with the European Union and the United States as the primary export markets.
