[Reporter Hong Lan of the Korea Farmers and Fishermen Newspaper] The government has announced the legislative proposal for the 'Special Act on Disaster Relief and Support for the Large-Scale Wildfires in Gyeongbuk, Gyeongnam, and Ulsan (Special Wildfire Act)' and has initiated a public opinion collection. However, there has been criticism that the key issue of the actual compensation standards demanded by the affected residents is not sufficiently included in the proposed regulations. In response, the victims' organizations plan to submit a revision opinion on the regulations and request a public hearing. The Ministry of the Interior and Safety disclosed the proposed regulations for the Special Wildfire Act on the 12th, which include the composition and operation of the wildfire reconstruction committee, procedures for additional support applications by victims, the operation of support organizations, and the recovery of damage to small businesses, industrial complexes, and agricultural, forestry, and fisheries sectors.
