[Korean Farmers' Newspaper, Reporter Ikino] Warning signs are growing in the domestic dairy industry, with a decrease in the use of edible oil and a backlog of powdered milk inventory. Particularly, as the decrease in milk consumption coincides with a move by dairy companies to reduce production, voices are emerging that measures need to be urgently prepared as from next year, sterilized milk from the U.S. and the EU will be imported without tariffs. Recently, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Dairy Promotion Association published the '2025 Dairy Statistical Yearbook'. The analysis indicates that the entire dairy industry is facing a red light in terms of production base, raw milk supply and demand, and dairy product consumption. According to the Dairy Statistical Yearbook, as of December 2024, the number of dairy farms is 5,392.
