Grain production in Argentina is expected to reach a record in the 2025/26 crop season, according to the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange. The projected total volume is 142.6 million tons, an increase of 8.9% from the previous season. The rise is mainly driven by corn and sunflower, while wheat and barley also contribute to the growth, offsetting declines in soybeans and sorghum. The cultivated area is expected to reach 37 million hectares, an increase of 1.9% and the highest ever recorded in the country. "Exports could grow by 3.3% in the new crop, reaching $32.94 billion," said Ramiro Costa, chief economist at the Exchange. Corn is the crop with the highest expected advance. Production is expected to grow by 18.4%, totaling 58 million tons in 7.8 million hectares, almost 10% higher than the 2024/25 season.
