[Korean Farmers and Fishermen Newspaper, Reporter Young-jin Choi] It has been investigated that subtropical fish species are continuously newly entering our country's exclusive economic zone (EEZ) due to climate change. The National Institute of Fisheries Science announced on the 17th that, following the identification of 8 previously unrecorded species in the EEZ last year, 7 additional previously unrecorded species were identified this year. Additionally, based on the results of the fishery resources survey conducted since 2017, it was analyzed that the effects of climate change, such as rising sea temperatures and changes in ocean currents, are directly impacting the species composition and marine ecosystem structure in the waters surrounding our country. The average sea temperature around the Korean Peninsula recently is Kuroshio.
