The article highlights a significant decline in the number of cows kept in Ukraine, with a 8.4% decrease in dairy farms and a 15.9% decrease in households since 2021, largely due to the impact of the war. The most significant losses have been in areas occupied or heavily shelled, with some farmers transporting livestock to safer regions. As of now, the majority of cows are located in the Poltava, Cherkasy, and Chernihiv regions. The future of the dairy industry in Ukraine is uncertain due to ongoing war, port difficulties, falling global dairy prices, and decreased domestic purchasing power.
