The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development, Gerardo Dueñas, has met with the Castilla y León Interprofessional Potato Organization (Oipacyl) to discuss their activities and goals. Recognized as an interprofessional organization in 2020, Oipacyl has focused on creating standard contracts, promoting potato products, and developing a European program to boost consumption. They are also working on a farm management application, a collective brand, and studying the profitability of potato biodegradability. The meeting highlighted the potato crop's socioeconomic importance in Castilla y León, leading the community in potato production with over 800,000 tons, and the sector's significance in the agri-food industry.
