Vietnam: Durian exports receive an urgent warning

Pepper prices have decreased and are adjusting according to a stable cycle, while durian brings high profits, farmers are looking for ways to grow durian trees interspersed with pepper gardens. This information was given by Ms. Hoang Thi Lien - President of the Vietnam Pepper Association (VPA) - at a conference on pepper export at the end of December 2022. According to Ms. Lien, farmers saw that durian fruit was officially exported to the Chinese market, setting a growth record, so they intercropped with pepper to increase their income. This situation is the same as 3-4 years ago for avocado or jackfruit trees, if it is beneficial, people will naturally do it.
