As of March 7, 2024, durian prices in Vietnam remain high due to a supply shortage, with Ri6 durian priced at 142,000 VND/kg and Thai durian at 200,000 VND/kg. Despite the high costs of off-season fruit handling, growers are seeing profits of around 1 billion VND/hectare. The local agricultural sector is focusing on safety in durian production and packaging, and encouraging cooperation with businesses for large-scale cultivation. The Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association predicts durian exports to reach 3.5 billion USD in 2024.
