The European Union and the USA, under President Joe Biden, have reached a agreement to end the additional US duties affecting Made in Italy agri-food exports, worth around half a billion euros, on products such as various cheeses, meats, seafood, beverages, and liqueurs. This comes three months after the temporary suspension of a 25% tariff on these products imported from Italy and the EU. The US represents the primary outlet market for Italian food and drink outside the EU, with a value of 4.9 billion in 2020, but this figure has seen a 2% decrease in the first quarter of 2021.
