The European Union (EU) has imposed a 25% tariff on several American products including food items like ketchup, cheddar cheese, peanuts, cotton, and potatoes, and goods such as video games, tractors, and children's games. This is in response to the US's authorization of sanctions against the EU following a WTO decision. The tariffs also extend to salmon, nuts, grapefruits, vanilla, wheat, tobacco, cocoa, chocolate, citrus juices, liqueurs, fashion items, spare parts for bicycles, and games for children. The President of Coldiretti, Ettore Prandini, has urged the EU to cease this duty war, particularly impacting European exports of food and drinks, and emphasizes the potential negative economic implications. The US is a significant market for Italian products, with Italian food products alone worth 4.7 billion in 2019.
