The State of Mexico is the leading producer of trout among Mexico's 15 landlocked entities, with three Aquaculture Centers in the municipalities of Calimaya, Jocotitlán, and Villa Guerrero. These centers have 2,153 registered production units, rearing various species such as trout, carp, tilapia, and bullfrog. The government guarantees the health of the production by implementing biosecurity measures and good practices, and the quality of the water and climatic conditions are essential for the production. The state also emphasizes the importance of cleaning and disinfection in the production centers and the necessity for all individuals accessing the centers to sanitize their instruments.
