In May, Georgia's trade in fruits and vegetables saw notable fluctuations, especially with potatoes. Imports hit a low of 270 tons, while exports reached a record 10,000 tons, largely to Russia. Beet imports almost ceased, but exports totaled 55 tons. Cucumber imports dropped significantly, but exports increased, and greenhouse tomatoes were exported to Russia, Ukraine, and the EU. The demand for other greenhouse vegetables in the local market was low due to the start of the local produce season. Melon imports reached a record high, and Georgia acted as a re-export platform for other Caucasian countries. There was also a significant increase in the import of frozen strawberries and pistachios.
